The newest addition to my plant collection and one of my favorites, the Fockea Angustifolia. This vine growing succulent is native to South Africa and has been found to grow wild in parts of California.
What makes this succulent so interesting is the fact that it’s edible, and considered to be incredibly delicious. The Caudex, or massive rootstock that grows under the soil has a sweet nutty flavor and is said to taste like watermelon. The vines can grow up to 1.5 meters long, and usually do so along the underside of trees or bushes. During its growing season, it can put out small green and white flowers, but this plant is dioecious, meaning it requires a male and female plant to reproduce and create seeds. This plant can also be propagated via cutting.
